Dr. King Day of Service: Purpose Postcard Project

January 17, 2022, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

Dr. King Day of Service: Purpose Postcard Project

Members only. Registration required. In-Person.

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in a special hands-on service project! Since May 2021, visitors to Night Tours at Eastern State have written hundreds of Purpose Postcards, sharing words of encouragement and well wishes with people incarcerated across the state. On Dr. King Day, we will work together to get these postcards ready to send. Join us to sort the postcards and prepare them for mailing to people inside prisons throughout Pennsylvania.

Then, immediately following this event, join us for our annual commemoration of Dr. King and his “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Hear the entirety of the landmark text – read by students, educators, public officials, artists, and activists – and engage with its relevance today.

This in an in-person event, free for all members. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
