Member Saturday: On the High Seas: A Nautical History of Eastern State
Members only. Registration required.
Even though Pennsylvania is a landlocked state, the rolling tides of the ocean have influenced many people who walked through Eastern State’s cellblocks. From those convicted of crimes “on the high seas,” to artists and craftsmen who incorporated aspects of naval life into their work, Eastern State has a surprisingly deep nautical history.
Join Eastern State and Independence Seaport Museum staff members as we unveil the history of sailors, nautical crimes, and ocean-inspired crafts throughout Philadelphia and Eastern State’s history.
Please note: Member Saturday events will be held online for the remainder of 2021. Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email. To ensure you receive this link, please try to register at least 24 hours prior to the start of the Member Saturday you plan to attend.
This event is free for all members. Reserve free tickets online or call 215-236-5111 x224. Space is limited.
