Member Saturday: New Justice Models for Veterans

Members only. Registration required.

Hundreds of people who were incarcerated in and worked at Eastern State served in the military. Today, about 180,000 veterans are incarcerated in the United States, and they face unique challenges in navigating the criminal justice system.

Join Eastern State’s Research and Public Programming Specialist, Damon McCool, and the New York State Health Foundation’s Veteran Health Officer, Derek Coy, for an intriguing discussion on the history of veterans at Eastern State and in the justice system today. Learn more about the expansion of Veteran Treatment Courts as a new judicial model designed specially to help veterans struggling with addiction, homelessness, and mental health disorders.

Please note: Member Saturday events will be held online for the remainder of 2021. Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email. To ensure you receive this link, please try to register at least 24 hours prior to the start of the Member Saturday you plan to attend.
