Indigenous Peoples' Day at ESPHS
Included with public guide-led tour and discussion.
Purchase tickets online in advance to reserve your spot.
Join us in honoring Indigenous Americans and their stories, strength, and resilience with special public tour content all weekend long. Eastern State Penitentiary housed a number of Indigenous people throughout its time as an active prison, from as early as 1834 until at least 1933. Today, Indigenous Americans experience disproportionate rates of incarceration that are nearly 40 percent higher than the national average.
During Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend, the 45-minute Guide-Led Tour and Discussion will include additional content exploring the impact of the criminal justice system on Indigenous people throughout the United States.
The Guide-Led Tour and Discussion is included with standard admission, subject to availability; however, the only way to guarantee your spot is to purchase date-specific Guide-Led Tour and Discussion tickets online in advance.
