Support The Sara Jane Elk Fund Today

Sally Elk’s legacy at Eastern State Penitentiary spans nearly four decades. As a staffer at the City Historical Commission in the 1980s, Sally was part of the coalition that convinced city leadership to save this historic building from developers. And in 2000, she became the first President and CEO of Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, Inc.

Now, as Sally retires, we prepare to celebrate her unparalleled impact on this treasured space and unique artifact. Help us keep her legacy alive here at Eastern State for many more decades to come.

Make a gift now!

To honor Sally, and allow her many friends, colleagues, and collaborators to express their congratulations at this watershed moment, we have established The Sara Jane Elk Fund for Historic Preservation.

Your gift to this fund will be designated to support historic preservation capital needs identified by Eastern State’s future leadership. It honors Sally's commitment to the vision she has worked so hard and so long to make reality. And it also helps provide the resources needed to preserve this historic site and all it can teach us about the legacy of criminal justice reform for future generations.

Our Board of Directors has kicked off fundraising efforts by giving more than $36,000; with your help, we hope to raise another $15,000. Thank you for making a gift today to bring us closer to meeting this goal!
