"Summer Twilight Tours" Wednesday Nights in June, July and August
Our "Summer Twilight Tours" keep the penitentiary open until 8 pm on Wednesday nights in June, July and August. Standard admission rates apply, and all audio tours, guided tours and artist installations will remain available. In addition, The Alfred W. Fleisher Memorial Synagogue and accompanying exhibit will be open during Twilight Tours.
A special guide led tour is offered each Wednesday evening. This hands-on, interactive experience is designed for visitors age seven and up. The tour lasts about thirty minutes, and is meant to supplement the Voices of Eastern State Audio Tour (The basic audio tour is about 45 minutes long). Tours are limited to thirty people, first come, first served. Reservations are not accepted.
Left Behind The Walls - 6:15 pm
More than 75,000 men and women once served time behind these walls. What was life like? A tour guide compares the lives of inmates and officers during the prison's long history.
Stay for dinner! Five of Fairmount's finest restaurants are featuring special themed dinner packages in combination with the Summer Twilight Tours.
