The 2011 Members' Photo Contest took place October 1 and 2. Members of Eastern State Penitentiary were invited to submit one image for each of the two categories - best color photo and best black and white photo. John Vick (Department of Modern & Contemporary Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art) served as guest judge this year. New for 2011, a public vote determined a second set of winning photographs.
Congratulations to the following contest winners:
Best Color Photo
Popular Vote: Cheryl Kozak, "Cellblock 3 Hospital"
Judge's Pick: Dan Currier, "Barber Shop"
Best Black & White Photo
Popular Vote: Sue Rothschild, "Reflections"
Judge's Pick: P.A. Leeb, "If Only I Could Wash Away the Sins"
Cheryl, Dan, Sue, and P.A. have each won a private, behind the scenes photo shoot of Eastern State. In addition, two of these images will be featured on the notecards that Eastern State sends to all renewing members.
